Storyline
Set in a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into five factions that each represent a different virtue, teenagers have to decide if they want to stay in their faction or switch to another - for the rest of their lives.
Tris Prior makes a choice that surprises everyone. Then Tris and her fellow faction-members have to live through a highly competitive initiation process to live out the choice they have made. They must undergo extreme physical and intense psychological tests, that transform them all. But Tris has a secret that she is Divergent, which means she doesn't fit into any one group.
If anyone knew, it would mean a certain death. As she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, this secret might help her save the people she loves... or it might destroy her.

โลกในอนาคตเมื่อมนุษยต้องถูกแบ่งออกเป็น 5 กลุ่ม คือ ผู้เสียสละ ผู้กล้าหาญ ผู้มีปัญญา ผู้ซื่อสัตย์ และผู้รักสงบ ใครก็ตามที่อายุครบ 16 ปี พวกเขาจะต้องได้รับการทดสอบความถนัด และมีสิทธิ์เลือกว่าจะยังคงเป็นสมาชิกของกลุ่มเดิมที่พวกเขาถือกำเนิดขึ้น หรือต้องการที่จะย้ายไปยังกลุ่มอื่น
นับเป็นการตัดสินใจครั้งยิ่งใหญ่ที่ บีทริซ (เชลลีน วูดลีย์) เด็กสาวอายุ 16 ปี จากกลุ่มผู้เสียสละจะต้องเลือกว่าเธออยากจะอยู่กับครอบครัว และยอมเป็นสมาชิกกลุ่มที่ไม่ใช่ตัวตนของเธอ หรือย้ายไปอยู่กลุ่มอื่นและทิ้งครอบครัวไว้ แต่ทว่าเมื่อได้เข้ารับการทดสอบ ผลการทดสอบของบีทริซกลับไม่สามารถทำการสรุปออกมาได้ ซึ่งนั่นทำให้เธอกลายเป็นคนที่ไม่เข้าพวก หรือที่เรียกกันว่า ไดเวอร์เจนต์
บีทริซถูกบังคับให้เก็บความลับที่สำคัญที่อาจจะเป็นอันตรายถึงชีวิตนี้ไว้ ซึ่งบีบคั้นให้เธอต้องต่อสู้เอาชนะปัญหามากมาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่องตัวตน เพื่อน ความรัก และยังต้องค้นหาความลับบางอย่างที่ถูกซ่อนเอาไว้ เพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมที่ดูเหมือนจะสงบสุขแห่งนี้
